When it comes to cooking, I am all about foods that take the least amount of time, dishes, and still taste good. I love food especially when it is cooked for me, but that is not the everyday reality unless I win the lotto.
So until I hit it big and hire a chef, I stick with the simple meals. I know you’re probably thinking you can’t get more simple than spaghetti….correction! Have you heard of cereal? I am totally guilty of being that lazy and just eating cereal for dinner.
Finished laughing yet? Good! Back to the spaghetti, I wanted to share this recipe because even though it is pretty darn easy to make, there is an even easier way! I’m talking one pot, no boiling water needed spaghetti. Yep, it is all done in ONE step in an Instant Pot. Did I mention it only takes 10 minutes?!
If you read my last recipe post on mashed potatoes, you know I am a big fan of the Instant Pot. For all the busy moms or just busy people out there still wanting the goodness of a home cooked meal, the Instant Pot is quite the game changer.
Traditionally, with spaghetti you would have to use one pot to boil water then add the noodles. Another smaller pot to warm the sauce. You then have to drain the noodles and add the sauce into the pot and warm it a little longer.
This recipe takes all of those steps and condenses them into one pot and fewer steps. What I love about it is that once I close the lid, I can walk away and do something else without risking the water boiling over and making a mess.
I am not going to write out the steps here, instead, I have the recipe below, because let’s face it, who even reads this part of a recipe post? IF you have made it this far, congratulations! And thanks for reading, heck I admit I even jump down to just the recipe sometimes.
So without delay, here is Instant Pot Spaghetti. Remember this is a meatless version. If you choose to add meatballs it will take a few extra steps and be a little longer than 10 minutes.
- 1 jar (24 oz) Spaghetti Sauce for bold flavor opt for a spiced sauce
- 2 cups water
- 8 oz spaghetti noodles any noodle type works with this recipe
Add 2 cups of water into the pot.
Break the noodles into 3rds and add in the pot.
Empty the entire jar of spaghetti sauce into the pot. Pour it evenly over the noodles but do not stir. Stirring is not needed yet. (I use a spicy pepper sauce for a bold flavor)
Place and seal the instant pot lid. Make sure the steam valve is also closed.
Set the IP to manual or pressure cook for a time of 10 minutes.
Once it is done, do a quick release, stir, and serve!
***If you need to make a larger serving size, I would not double the recipe, the noodles will come out too soggy. Instead I would repeat the above recipe a second time.
